Grain facilities of the future taking shape at Västra hamnen
Text

At Västra Hamnen outside Uddevalla, two new state-of-the-art grain facilities are currently taking shape. Behind the projects are two well-known players: Lantmännen and Varaslättens Lagerhus.
These investments are an important part of strengthening the grain infrastructure in West Sweden and creating future opportunities for the reception, storage, and export of grain.
We’d like to share an update from both projects. First up is Varaslättens Lagerhus, where work is progressing steadily
Varaslättens Lagerhus
Karl Delin, CEO of Varaslättens Lagerhus, gives us a status update and says the project is on track:
- The reception hall is now almost completed, and during October the machinery tower will be finalized with steel assembly and cladding. We’ve just begun work on the service building, which will include a control room and a workshop.
By Christmas, all assembly work, both buildings and machinery, is expected to be completed. After that, a busy spring awaits with electrical installations and testing before the facility is commissioned at the start of next summer.
Planned start of operations: June 2026
Stay tuned tomorrow, when we’ll share more about Lantmännen’s construction at Västra hamnen. Where one of Sweden’s largest silo developments since the 1980s is beginning to take shape.
