Our work doesn’t stop at the quayside

On land, we are used to roads needing care and maintenance. However, the main route to the Port of Uddevalla runs by sea. The fairway is the route vessels take into and out of the port, and we are responsible for maintaining part of it.

To help us with this, we have Uffe, our very own workboat!

With Uffe, we can head out into the fairway to carry out inspections and maintenance, check navigational marks and buoys, and perform other practical work on the water. All to make sure that the sea route into the Port of Uddevalla works as it should.

In other words, the fairway is an important part of the port’s infrastructure, just like quays, railway tracks and roads on land.

So, the next time you see our workboat Uffe out on Byfjorden, this might be exactly what is going on – work to keep the fairway safe and ready for the next vessel heading for the Port of Uddevalla.
