28th of April - World Day for Safety and Health at Work
During World Day for Safety and Health at Work, on April 28, we made a major effort to highlight it as a day filled with great commitment and focus on the work environment at Port of Uddevalla.
Throughout the day, all members of our staff participated in various work environment-related activities. We listened to an inspiring lecture about workplace happiness by Marie Dygn Norberg from Avonova and enjoyed a quiz walk with tricky questions about work environment.
Together, we also performed three different exercises with accident scenarios, developed with and instructed by Robert and Caroline from Heartbeat HLR.
Exercise 1: Cardiac arrest during forklift driving, which also resulted in a person being trapped under pallets. We practiced helping both individuals in the best way possible.
Exercise 2: Practice extinguishing fires with both fire blankets and fire extinguishers. Did you know that fire extinguishers should not be older than 10 years?
Exercise 3: Water rescue with lifebuoy. One of our colleagues, who is also a part-time firefighter, kindly volunteered to be rescued.
All activities were wrapped up with a joint lunch in the yard outside our office, where our fantastic colleagues grilled burgers for a hungry group!
It was an educational day where we not only learned useful, even lifesaving, things but also strengthened our cooperation and community.
