Lantmännen builds a landmark silo facility in Uddevalla

Yesterday, we shared an update on the buildingprogress of Varaslättens Lagerhus’ grain facility at Västra hamnen.
Right next to it, Lantmännen is also building a new facility. Here, Sweden’s largest silo complex since the 1980s is taking shape.
Gustaf Tynelius, Senior Project Manager at Lantmännen, shares an update on the project’s progress:
- All silos and buildings are now in place, and we’re currently in the middle of intensive installation work, including electrical systems, machinery, walkways, and much more.
Interest in the project is high and it’s easy to see why. Lantmännen’s facility in Uddevalla will become Sweden’s largest silo complex since the 1980s.
- By the 2026 harvest, everything will be tested and operational. A facility of this scale requires every part to work seamlessly. The harvest is dictated by nature, and once it starts, the grain inflow can’t be stopped, Gustaf adds.
He is particularly looking forward to seeing how the new facility boosts their reception capacity. Shorter and more intense harvest periods require a high throughput, and the new facility is designed to handle large grain volumes efficiently.
Gustaf notes that the project is not only an investment in the future of grain handling, but also a strategic step for farmers in west Sweden and for the export market. With the capacity to load larger vessels, up to 30,000 tons, the facility will strengthen the region’s position as a producer of premium-quality oats and grain.
Planned start of operations: By harvest 2026
