A sunny update in gloomy weather

Today the weather in Uddevalla is truly gloomy, but we have something much brighter to share!
Last autumn, we commissioned our very first solar power installation in the port. The system is located on the roof of one of our warehouse buildings at Sörvik. The panels are oriented both east and west to capture the sun’s energy for most of the day.
In total, the installation consists of 858 solar panels which, at maximum capacity, can produce up to 450,000 kWh per year. That corresponds to around 3,000 operating hours for our newest port crane, Crane 60 in Västra hamnen. In other words, the installation could in theory power the crane with self-generated electricity all year round, and then some.
- Right now, the installation produces around 8,000 kWh per month, even though the weather is not always at its best this time of year. It will be very exciting to see the actual results from the installation. We will only be able to evaluate that once a full year has passed since commissioning. explains Jonas Westlund, Maintentance Manager.
We will return with the results - and continue our work towards greener operations at the Port of Uddevalla.
