  • The rail expansion at Sörvik is making good progress

    We have now made significant progress on the project to build a second track at Sörvik. Work, which began earlier this year, is progressing according to plan, and several important stages have already been completed.

  • Successful renovation of Frölands quay completed

    The project to reinforce and renovate the approximately 400 piles beneath Frölands quay in the Port of Uddevalla has now been completed. This marks the final step in the planned refurbishment of the quay.

  • Breaking ground for expanded rail capacity at Sörvik

    Construction is now underway on new railway tracks at Sörvik. Here, between the warehouses and Sörvik quay, today’s single track will be expanded into two. The new track will be laid parallel to the existing one, creating a double-track railway.

    A lot of exciting things are happening in Västra hamnen right now. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of attending the inauguration of Varaslättens Lagerhus’ new grain facility, marked by a festive ceremony on site.

  • New weighbridge in Västra Hamnen means improved flexibility

    To improve service for our customers and increase flexibility in our cargo flows, we have commissioned a newweightbridge in the Västra hamnen. We already have a weightbridge in the Inner port and at Sörvik, which means that we now have one in each port area.

  • Project cargo handled with precision

    Earlier this week, we carried out an exciting project cargo operation on behalf of Ferm & Olsson, Stenungsund. Two tanks were transshipped from the M/V Amadeus Aquamarijn onto a smaller barge. The final destination was the petrochemical complex in Stenungsund, an area where limited space places high demands on carefully planned logistics throughout the entire operation.

  • Insight into working life at the port – study visit from 8th grade

    Today, 8th grade from Norgårdenskolan in Uddevalla had their career day. During the day, we had the opportunity to showcase the port through a guided tour and talk about the wide range of professions we have here. Curious participants gained insight into the daily work at the port and were able to ask questions about everything from everyday tasks to future career paths.

  • Easter at Port of Uddevalla

    Even with public holidays and a shorter working week, activity at the port remained high throughout Easter. We had 12 vessels alongside our quays and handled 43,000 tonnes of cargo – equivalent to the weight of approximately 21,500 mid-sized SUVs.

  • Happy Easter and opening hours

    During Easter, our opening hours will differ from normal. No regular work is carried out during the Easter holidays. Any work performed during these days is considered overtime and is voluntary. Uddevalla Hamnterminal cannot guarantee the availability of labor during this period, but we will do our utmost to provide our clients with the best possible service.

    After 16 years as CEO of Uddevalla Hamnterminal, and even more years with the company, Ulf Stenberg was bid farewell on Wednesday by his colleagues and our owners.

  • Wind-powered innovation at quay

    Today, a slightly unusual vessel is berthed at our quay, M/V Vectis Progress. The 124-metre general cargo vessel has a distinctive bow and really stands out with its somewhat futuristic appearance. In the spring of 2025, the vessel was equipped with an experimental wind-assisted propulsion system – a so-called AirWing, developed by GT Wings.

  • A sunny update in gloomy weather

    Today the weather in Uddevalla is truly gloomy, but we have something much brighter to share! Last autumn, we commissioned our very first solar power installation in the port. The system is located on the roof of one of our warehouse buildings at Sörvik. The panels are oriented both east and west to capture the sun’s energy for most of the day.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Jerry for his valuable contributions and the positive impact he has made on colleagues, customers, and partners during his nearly 50 years at Port of Uddevalla.

  • We welcome Kristoffer as our new Stevedore Foreman

    Kristoffer started out as an extra stevedore at the Port of Uddevalla back in 2008. Over the years, he has contributed to our operations in a variety of roles, and since this summer he has stepped in as Acting Foreman for the stevedoring department. He is now taking on the role as permanent Stevedore Foreman.

  • Important victory for shipping in Uddevalla!

    We are thrilled to announce that Uddevalla Municipality has been reinstated as an approved border crossing point. This means that the right to conduct crew changes at Port of Uddevalla has been restored, following more than 18 months of effort.

  • Strong momentum and full speed ahead

    This week at Port of uddevalla Uddevalla hamn we’ve been busy. Over the quay alone, we have handled: 4,000 tonnes of bagged cargo, 5,000 tonnes of pulp, 18,000 tonnes of grain, 4,000 tonnes of cement. Over the weekend, we are adding a further 2,600 tonnes of liquid bulk cargo. In total, this corresponds to the weight of approximately 16,800 Volvo cars.

  • Modern Crane Operator training with crane simulator

    As members of TYA, the Transport Union's occupational and work environment committee, we have the opportunity to use Hamn- och Stuveriskolan’s crane simulators in the training of both aspiring and experienced crane operators.

  • Temporary berthing for P-Arken in Port of Uddevalla

    The floating parking structure P-Arken , built in 1975 and with approximately 400 parking spaces, is being relocated from Lilla Bommen in Gothenburg to the Port of Uddevalla. The move is planned to begin shortly and will be divided in two stages. First, P-Arken will be towed to Stigbergskajen for preparations, and then onward to Uddevalla. The sea voyage is expected to take around ten hours. The entire transport will be carried out by tugboats, as P-Arken has no engine or steering system of its own.

    At the beginning of January, we welcomed Henrik Vuorinen as our new CEO. After his first weeks on site, he has now had the opportunity to get to know the organization and gain insight into our work.

  • Local design meets global trade

    Today, the Swedish-flagged vessel Fure Vesborg is berthed at Port of Uddevalla, discharging liquid bulk. The vessel is owned by the Swedish company Furetank through the joint venture FureBears . Fure Vesborg was built in 2025 and is the fourteenth vessel in the Vinga series .

  • Loading of transformer to Norway

    Here we are loading the vessel Link Sun with a transformer destined for Norway. It is a vital cog in the machinery that makes up the Norwegian railway network. After service and maintenance in Åmål, the transformer is now on its way back to Oslo to be recommissioned.

    This week’s snowy weather has truly put our society to the test. Here on the west coast of Sweden, we’re not exactly equipped for the heavy snowfall that arrived during Wednesday. A big shout-out to everyone who works tirelessly with snow clearance, around the clock, to keep vital societal functions running.

  • Quay extension will future-proof Västra Hamnen

    Västra Hamnen continues to develop at a rapid pace. Over the past year, several important investments have been completed, including the commissioning of a new port crane and the completion of a new electrical substation. The quay has also been renovated, with reinforcement works currently underway. These investments have already led to increased interest and traffic within the port area.

  • Badö Quay operating at full capacity

    Just now, M/V Ultra Tatio departed from the Badö Quay after being loaded with 13,000 tonnes of oats bound for New Orleans. A larger-class vessel—and a clear example of the demand and logistics flows that already exist in the port when it comes to grain.

  • New equipment boosts sustainability and productivity

    Last week, we discharged our first load of pellet using a combination of our newest port crane and our new bucket, with an impressive capacity of 18 cubic metres . The upgraded equipment offers significantly higher capacity than before, making operations not only smoother but also more energy- and resource-efficient .

    Photos from last Friday when the whole Sörvik quay was packed with Big Bags. On one side of the quay, the vessel Aland was discharged. She was completed, and departed today. On the other side, Brigitte was loaded with Big Bags. She was finished, and left the quay on Saturday afternoon.

    Yesterday, we shared an update on the buildingprogress of Varaslättens Lagerhus’ grain facility at Västra hamnen. Right next to it, Lantmännen is also building a new facility. Here, Sweden’s largest silo complex since the 1980s is taking shape.

  • From nordic forests to global markets

    Last week, we loaded over 10,500 cubic meters of sawn timber at Port of Uddevalla onto M/V Sea Carrier. The shipment was in partnership with Gouda Trading, a company with extensive experience in the sawn timber trade.

  • Strong Recovery in the Interim Report for Port of Uddevalla

    Despite a weak start to the year, we are now delivering a strong recovery in the interim report, which as of August 31 shows a solid result of SEK 11.5 million. A clear turnaround driven by both higher revenues and lower costs.

  • Harvest time = full speed in Uddevalla

    Right now, 5.9 million tons of grain are expected to be harvested across Sweden, 14% more than last year and the largest harvest in five years. According to the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s forecast, the area planted with winter wheat is also at a record high this year.

  • Construction has begun on Port of Uddevalla’s first solar power plant

    Our very first solar power system is currently being installed on the roof of a warehouse at Sörvik. A total of 858 solar panels are being mounted, each with a capacity of 575W. The installation of mounting rails and cable routing is in full swing, and we’re aiming for final inspection by the end of September.

  • A New Era Begins in Västra Hamnen - Welcome, Crane 60

    On June 6th, Sweden’s National Day, our brand-new port crane - Crane 60 - arrived at Frölandskajen in Västra Hamnen. This marks a major leap forward in both operational efficiency and handling capacity at Västra hamnen.

    Last Wednesday, representatives from our team visited the supplier Mantsinen in Rauma, Finland, as part of the preparations for the delivery of our new port crane. Among those taking part were members of our technical department, as well as several of our crane operators, who had the opportunity to test-drive the crane and familiarize themselves with its functions.

  • Wind Power Projects Underway

    Wind power is back in the port - and right now, the handling of wind turbine components is moving at a rapid pace here in Port of Uddevalla. Several vessels have already been discharged, and more are on the way, while outbound deliveries are rolling out from the quays to their respective sites across the country.

    We have now expanded the opportunities for our visitors and employees to charge their electric cars at our office. We now have a total of 18 strategically placed charging stations, all powered by renewable energy.     We are thrilled to welcome Malin as an intern with us! Malin is currently in her first year of the two-year Business-Oriented Accounting Economist program at Affärshögskolan in Uddevalla. This is her first internship, and she will be with us for ten weeks.

  • Spin of Hope 2025

    Spin of Hope is the Nordic region's largest spinning event where participants spin in the fight against childhood cancer. Every year, thousands of people spin to raise money for the Childhood Cancer Foundation's important work. Spin of Hope has raised over SEK 52 million since its inception in 2009, with over 1,600 organizers and 182,000 participants.

  • Workshops focused on sustainability

    We are currently working intensively to prepare for CSRD - sustainability reporting. This effort includes two workshops led by Lova and Nora from the company 2050 Consulting.

  • Visit from Transportföretagen Sveriges Hamnar

    Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Monika Przedpelska Öström, Industry Manager, and Project Manager Cathrin Merino from Transportföretagen Sveriges Hamnar (The Swedish Confederation of Transport Enterprises) to Port of Uddevalla.

  • Main Entrance to Västra Hamnen reopened for traffic

    The work on the stormwater pipeline through the port area, carried out by Uddevalla Municipality, is now completed. This means that the main entrance to Västra Hamnen is once again fully operational and open for traffic.

  • Combined loading of pulp

    Just before Christmas, we loaded M/V FWN Sky with a unique combination of 2000 tons of traditional pulp bales and 1000 tons of pulp in reels. Pulp in reels is similar to regular pulp but rolled, with the same shape and weight as a paper reel.

  • Clariant expands their operations in Västra hamnen

    Clariant is not only a key player in the aviation industry, being the largest Nordic manufacturer of de-icing agents, but also an important part of Uddevalla's business community. Recently, Clariant has expanded their facility in Västra hamnen. This expansion allows them to handle even more recycled product, marking a significant step forward for both the company and the environment!

  • New step forward for Västra hamnen

    The project to extend the lifespan of Frölands quay in Västra hamnen has commenced. Westcon Entreprenad AB has been contracted to execute the first phase of this project, which involves renovation work above the water level, including concrete repairs, the installation of new tracks, and new asphalt paving.

  • New rules for export to third countries come into effect on December 1st

    Due to changed EU legislation, a new three-step export process has been introduced: export declaration IE515, notification of goods to the export office IE507, and notification of goods export IE590. After a transition period since October 1st, the new rules come into effect this Sunday, December 1st.

  • Pioneers in Sweden – our new Linde E120 is here!

    We are proud to be the first in Sweden to order Linde Material Handling's new electric forklifts, the Linde E120. They have finally arrived and are already being put to use in our operations.

  • Infrastructure Day in Uddevalla on 22 October

    The government is currently developing a new national infrastructure plan that encompasses Sweden’s transport infrastructure and the economic investments planned from 2026 to 2037. They have announced that they will make historically significant investments in Sweden’s infrastructure during this period.

  • Changes in export regulations to Third Countries

    Due to new EU legislation, a new export process is introduced for cargo shipped via Port of Uddevalla. Starting from 1 October 2024 with a transition period until 1 December. The process includes these three steps: Export declaration IE515, a Declaration of goods to the office of exit IE507 oand Notification of the export of goods IE590.

  • New cargo at the Port: Biochar Briquettes

    On behalf of our customer, Vargön Alloys, we are now handling biochar briquettes as a new type of cargo at the port of Uddevalla. Traditionally, Vargön Alloys uses coke along with chrome ore in the production of ferroalloys, known as reducing agents. Both the ore and coke are imported through the Port of Uddevalla and can often be seen as gray or black piles on Skeppsholmspiren. Vargön Alloys has decided to test biochar briquettes as a more sustainable alternative to coke.

  • Port of Uddevalla at Transport Symposium 2024 in Antwerp

    In Antwerp, home to Europe's second-largest port, stakeholders from the forest industry, traders, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and port and terminal operators gathered from September 9 to 11 to attend this year's Transport Symposium.

  • Workshop dedicated to the railway logistics at and towards Port of Uddevalla

    This week, the management group of Port of Uddevalla engaged logistics experts from RISE Research Institutes of Sweden to explore issues related to the present railway situation, the role and prospective site of the railway harp, railway connections to the port, and external analysis. We were also joined by Lennart Hammarbäck from SYSTRA Sweden, who contributed with his expertise in the field.

  • A flexible solution for project goods management

    Last week, two cisterns arrived by vessel at Västra hamnen for discharging. These cisterns were commissioned by our client, who is in the process of expanding their liquid bulk handling facilitiy at Västra hamnen.

  • Reloading from barge to vessel

    The barge Ebba and tugboat Goliath recently arrived to port of Uddevalla from Stenungsund, with a somewhat eye-catching cargo. This shipment included a project load featuring industrial scrubbers manufactured in Stenungsund. Our mission was to reload the cargo from the barge, onto the vessel Anita Hagedorn.

  • New project manager strengthens our technical department

    In early June, Anders Eriksson assumed the position of project manager within the technical department at Port of Uddevalla. This newly created role offers Anders significant opportunities to shape the nature of the position.

  • Royal presence when Royal Wagenborg christened its Easymax vessels

    Last Friday, the shipping company Royal Wagenborg held a double christening of its Easymax ships Máxima and Alexia. During the DelfSail event, in the presence of 2,000 guests, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands performed the christening ceremony of the two vessels. One of which is of course named after the queen herself.

  • Stable cargo volumes through Port of Uddevalla

    Our result lands at SEK 1.8 millionn in our interim financial statements for the first four months of 2024. We see that freight volumes have increased by 11%, compared to the same period last year. This applies above all to the volumes over the quay. Handled freight volumes for the same period, amount to a stable 471 thousand tonnes.

  • Discharging locomotives from vessel directly to railway

    Together with our partner Havator, last week we received and discharged two brand new railway locomotives from M/V Eems Transporter. The locomotives are ordered by the Norwegian railway operator Grenland and arrived directly to us from the factory in Spain.

  • Loading of granite in Port of Uddevalla

    We regularly handle export of granite in Port of Uddevalla. The blocks of granite are hewn from the robust cliffs of Bohuslän, and weigh up to 20 tons each. We have received and discharged trucks with granite during the last few weeks, for intermediate storage in the port, to prepair for the next arriving vessel.

  • M/T Apatyth calls at Port of Uddevalla on her maiden voyage

    On her maiden voyage, M/T Apatyth called at Port of Uddevalla earlier this week.. We have a tradition to, when a vessel visits Port of Uddevalla on its first voyage, we pay attention to this by handing over a small gift. This time it was the vessel's Captain Lukasz Magierek who received the gift.

  • Exercise with the Rescue Service on May 8

    Tomorrow, on Wednesday 8 May, our customer Wibax will carry out a major exercise together with the Rescue Service between 09.00 and 12.00. This means that rescue vehicles will be seen in the inner port during the day.

  • Launching of the raft that will oxygenate Byfjorden

    The raft is crafted with two pumps that will push the oxygen-rich surface water down to the depths. This will create oxygenation and help to revive the seabed of Byfjorden. This is a method that has been tested before, and is proven to be effective.

  • Substituting vessel in our liner service

    In our regular liner service, we typically use the shipping company Wagenborgs M/V Oranjeborg. Every fifth week, we export up to 13,000 tons of forest products from Uddevalla to Philadelphia, USA with her. M/V Oranjeborg is a Ro-Ro vessel with side ports. Which means that the cargo can either be driven on board or loaded through the side ports.

  • Results above expectations for 2023

    We can report a result for Uddevalla Hamnterminal above expectations for 2023 of SEK 8.6 million after financial items. This is an increase compared to our budget and forecast, of SEK 7.0 million.

  • M/V Mark D visits Port of Uddevalla on her maiden voyage

    M/V Mark D is currently docked in our port, visiting Port of Uddevalla as part of her maiden voyage. We have a tradition to hand over a small gift to the vessels who calls att Port of Uddevalla on their first voyage, to wish them luck and prosperity.

  • Our newest additions to the machine fleet strengthen our capacity in bulk handling

    The latest addition to our machine fleet is a wheel loader, more specifically a Volvo L180H. The wheelloader will mainly be used to strengthen our capacity when handling bulk cargo in the port. We where able get the machine in place quickly, as it has been purchased second-hand. An excellent solution for us, when the need occured to increase our capacity.

  • Badö quay receives vessel call out of the ordinary

    For two days M/V Kujawy was layed by berth at Badö in Port of Uddevalla. She attracted the attention of vessel enthusiasts in the area, which is not surprising. She is an unusual sight with her length of 190 meters, compared to the musch smaller vessles that usually calls at the quay of Badö.

  • New routine for access to Port of Uddevalla

    We are currently implementing a new and modern access system for the port area. In order to continue to be a safe and secure port, we are also introducing new procedures, in connection to that. We want to ensure that everyone who has access to the port area through a personal ID card, is authorized, and has knowledge of current regulations. Therefore we have chosen to let everyone re-apply for access to Port of Uddevalla.

  • We pause operations for a short while to gather our employees

    On Wednesday February 7th between 11.00 - 12.00 we will close the port and for an hour, due to meeting with our employees. This means that during this time we will pause all operations, such as goods reception, vessel- and terminal handling.

  • We take the next step in Port of Uddevalla's sustainable conversion

    Already today, we use 100% green electricity for our electric cranes, trucks and cars. We are now taking the next step in our conversion to a sustainably operated machine fleet. As we shift from fossil diesel in our diesel-powered vehicles and machines, to the biofuel HVO100.

    Road salt is one of the type of cargo we handle in Port of Uddevalla. In this way, we are a part of the chain that creates safe roads in the region. For example in the picture above, where we dishcarged salt from the ship Sea Steamer last week. Right now we handle winter salt, but salt is relevant in the port all year round.

  • The Ambassador of Japan to Sweden visits Port of Uddevalla

    We had the honor of hosting the Ambassador of Japan to Sweden, Noke Masaki, embassy secretary Seiichi Sakata and consul general Claes Grill to Port of Uddevalla just before Christmas. When they, for two days visited selected companies and schools in Uddevalla, together with Christina Nilsson, chairman of the municipal council.

    Procurement of a new crane for Port of Uddevalla has been completed, and Mantsinen will be the crane supplier. An official start-up meeting was held on monday, for the project group that will work towards completion and delivery of the crane.

  • Varied further training for our stevedoring workers

    For our stevedores, their tasks look different from day to day. Which means that they also need to be able to do many different things. To keep their skills updated, and to ensure that we live up to the rules and requirements that exist, we conduct ongoing training in various areas.

    It has probably not gone unnoticed to anyone that this summer we are treated to, to say the least, varied weather here in Sweden. Of course, this isn't something that stops our employees who are used to working outdoors in all kinds of weather. As long as the goods are not weather-sensitive, our service remains stable, through thick and thin.

    As always when our regular staff in on holiday, we have lots of summer employees on site to cover for them. We have no idea how time flew by so fast, but somehow we're already halfway through this year's holiday season. This means that our summer employees most likley already are familiar to many of you.

  • We have three new defibrillators on site

    We installed three new defibrillators in our port area last week, with the help of the company Heartbeat HLR (CPR). One at Sörvik, one at Skeppsholmspiren and one in Västra hamnen.

  • Hydrographic survey is carried out during May

    During the month of May, a hydrographic survey will be carried out in Port of Uddevalla. A hydrographic survey y is carried out at regular intervals and measures the depth around the quays through a digital scan. By performing a hydrographic survey we ensure that our information on water depth is correct and that vessels can safely dock at our quays.

    Safety is in focus when the company Heartbeat CPR are helping us improve our employees' vital knowledge in CPR.

  • Record year for Port of Uddevalla

    In 2022, cargo volumes in Port of Uddevalla increased from 1 million to just over 1.4 million handled tonnes. At the same time, we have achieved our best result in modern times, with a profit of 24 million SEK.

  • Parts of our operations will be temporarily closed on April 5th

    On April 5, we will close parts of our operations between 11:00 and 12:00. This means that all ship and terminal handling are paused during this hour. The closure makes it possible for us to gather all of our employees, within the operations department, stowage and goods reception, for a joint meeting.

  • We strengthen our stevedore department with a new Foreman

    Jörgen Berndtson was recruited to the position of our sixth Stevedore Foreman in November. Jörgen joined Uddevalla Hamnterminal as a Stevedore worker in 2021. However, he is already well acquainted with his new role, as he soon after that started to help as foreman. Jörgen has a diverse working background where he has been a sheet metal worker, ship machinist and self-employed in the motorcycle industry, among other things.

  • We recruit internal talent to our work environment investment

    Jonny Karlsson was recruited in October to our new role as HSEQ coordinator, as an investment in our work environment. HSEQ stands for Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality and the role of HSEQ coordinator means that Jonny will be responsible to coordinate work environment, environment and quality work for Uddevalla Hamnterminal.
